PERFECT FALL DAY

On Saturday I dug out Johnnie's most comfortable play clothes and let her loose in the yard. The weather was perfect: crisp, but with the sun warm on our cheeks. She loves to be outside, and I'm trying to do better at indulging her when she brings me her shoes -- even when there's mounds of laundry to do and a hundred things that need painting. This is more important.

Speaking of paint, the white part of the house is going to be painted a deep barn red someday. We have the paint already; someone just needs to do it. Regardless of when it happens, I think it's going to look amazing.

Johnnie wandered and wandered, pushing her tiny stroller, examining leaves and finding feathers (below). She must've walked at least half a mile up and down the hill and to the neighbor's fence and back, and by the time we went inside she was covered in mud and grass clippings and all manner of stains. It was a great day to be a toddler.

She also slept really well that night, one of the first full nights in a couple weeks. It was all part of our master plan to completely exhaust her so that she's just too tired to exert herself with a crying fit at 3am. Mwahahahah!

    1. I wish fall could last longer. Can't wait to show you all the red once it's done. Someday.

    1. Thanks! A relative gave the coat (I think it's from Carter's) to her for her birthday. She really likes it too because she knows when we put it on it means playing outside!
