And that's where a really amazing story begins...
Last Saturday we made another trip to Second Chance to scope out the newest inventory with my parents, and though my dad scored a cool little shop sink, S and I left emptyhanded. All the scrounging had made us hungry, so we headed over to Light Street to hit up the Cross Street Market and Dangerously Delicious Pies for a bite to eat.
Walking down Light Street, we happened to see a sign in a shop window that said something like, "Another quality deconstruction by Second Chance, Inc." Whatever business it used to be had closed down, and most of the stuff inside had been removed. Except, that is, for the sink -- and I mean THE sink -- a beautiful, NSF-certified stainless two-bay utility sink with dual drain boards. The one we've been wanting. Right there in plain sight. We all looked at each other in disbelief.
S called the Second Chance folks immediately to check on the status. They told him he should call back in a couple days, to give it time to make its way into the warehouse. He called every day. On Wednesday it had finally arrived and been tagged -- $279. Heck yes! We made it ours as soon as possible. It's hanging out in our foyer right now.
Ah, I love a happy ending. Anyone else have any "right-place-at-the-right-time" experiences lately?
OMG that's unreal! You must have done some good deed to get that kind of karma. ; ) Congrats on your new totally awesome sink.
ReplyDeleteEmily Kate:
ReplyDeleteThat is the deepest pair of sinks I have ever seen!
Karma? no, but a blessing from God. The bakers table, sink, stove and oven are all present. Now show us a floor to put'em on.
Wow! What a steal! I love when renovations throw little (good) surprises your way! can't wait to see the whole kitchen put together.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! What a great find!
ReplyDeleteYes, good surprises are awesome! Definitely keeps you going.
ReplyDeleteMel, I'd love to show you a floor ASAP. We are waiting on a blessing from the permit office... FYI the sink basins are 14" deep. They look deeper, but that's what the tape measure says!
